HeyDad ("HeyDad," "we," "us") is a family-first platform that lets adult family members record their voice so it can be preserved, cloned by AI, and shared with their family — bedtime stories, encouragement, advice, and homework help, all in that person's own voice. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you and your family have. It applies to every HeyDad account.
Voice recording and cloning is available only to adults aged 18 and older, and this is enforced at the point of recording. Children cannot record, upload, or clone their own voice on HeyDad under any circumstance. A child's experience is limited to hearing stories and messages, getting AI-assisted help, and interacting with content their family's consenting adults have created.
From adults: the voice recordings you make, the AI voice model ("voiceprint") built from them, and any stories, messages, or advice you record or write.
From children (only with the parental consent described in Section 4): basic profile information a parent sets up, homework or schoolwork submitted for AI-assisted help, and usage information such as which stories were played.
From everyone: account and family-group information, and general usage data.
Before a child under 13 can use any part of HeyDad — including hearing an AI voice or getting homework help — a parent or guardian must set up the family account and give verifiable consent. We confirm the person consenting is an adult through a small, refundable card charge at setup.
A parent can review, export, or delete their child's information, and withdraw consent, at any time from account settings. Withdrawing consent stops all further use of the child's data and starts the deletion process in Section 5.
We keep your information only as long as your account is active. If you close your account or ask us to delete your data, we permanently delete it — including voice recordings and voiceprints — within 30 days.
When you record your voice on HeyDad, you — as the adult whose voice it is — are giving your own consent for that recording to be used and preserved by your family, including after your death, if that's part of why you're recording it. HeyDad does not create or clone a voice for anyone who has not personally consented to it while living.
We use voice recordings and family content only to power the features you and your family turned on. We do not sell your family's information, and we never use it to train models for other users, for advertising, or to share with any other company, without your separate, explicit consent.
Voice recordings and voiceprints are encrypted both when stored and when transmitted. Access inside HeyDad is limited to what's needed to operate the feature, and every access is logged.
Where HeyDad uses outside vendors — for example, to power AI voice generation — those vendors are contractually prohibited from using your family's voice data to train their own general-purpose models.
At any time, you can: view what HeyDad has stored for your family; export your recordings and stories; delete your account and all associated data; and withdraw consent for a child's use of the app. Contact us below to exercise any of these.
We'll post any changes here with an updated effective date, and will directly notify parents of any material change affecting a child's data.
